STOP

Supporting Treatment and Overdose Prevention

The Independence Blue Cross Foundation's STOP initiative increases awareness and access to effective community-based opioid treatment and prevention. The STOP initiative will expand outcome- and evidence-based programs and community resources, identify the barriers to treatment and prevention, and disseminate effective community-based strategies and education around this public health epidemic.

STOP aims to address the opioid epidemic through the following activities:

  • Promote the utilization of prescription drug take-back sites in southeastern Pennsylvania to directly decrease access to prescription opioids across the five-county region
  • Support research in evidence based and emerging approaches in care coordination and treatment
  • Increase services and access to training for Medication-Assisted Treatment
  • Award grant funding to effective community based treatment and prevention programs in southeastern Pennsylvania
  • Partner with nonprofit and academic stakeholders to identify gaps in preventative and treatment services.

Prescription drug take-back sites

Help prevent prescription drug abuse by disposing of unused prescription drugs. There are more than 100 prescription drug take-back locations in the five-county region where you can safely and properly discard medication.
