IBC Foundation Journal of Change wins Healthcare Advertising merit award

Philadelphia, PA — May 19, 2014 —The Journal of Change, an award-winning publication from the Independence Blue Cross Foundation chronicling innovation in health care has won a merit award in the 31st Annual Healthcare Advertising Awards, the oldest and one of the most respected healthcare advertising awards. Journal of Change — written by contributing health experts, designed by Krames StayWell, and published by the IBC Foundation provides customized health engagement solutions for population health management, patient education and consumer engagement.

This year, the award coordinators received more than 3,700 entries, making this the largest healthcare advertising awards competition and one of the ten largest of all advertising awards. The awards are sponsored by Healthcare Marketing Report, a leading publication covering all aspects of healthcare marketing, advertising and strategic business development. A national panel of judges reviewed entries based on creativity, quality, message effectiveness, consumer appeal, graphic design and overall impact.

“We’re excited and honored to be recognized nationally by this prestigious organization for the Journal of Change and we hope that the publication has helped health professionals think about new and different ways to improve health care,” said Lorina Marshall-Blake, president of the Independence Blue Cross Foundation. “Having a creative and supportive partner like Krames StayWell has been extremely helpful in creating a visually appealing and readable publication.”

Launched in the fall of 2012, the Journal of Change was created as an in-depth exploration of the rapidly shifting health care landscape and a showcase for new ideas and initiatives that will affect the way we live. The publication aims to provide a better understanding of the future of health care and how individuals can channel the positive effects of these changes into healthier lives.

The first issue of the Journal of Change included a cover story about Sister Mary Scullion, who oversees Philadelphia’s Project H.O.M.E and St. Elizabeth’s Health Center, one of 46 clinics the Foundation supports. The second issue published last spring focused on the nursing profession, including the need for advanced nursing education, a platform the Foundation has supported for more than a decade. The Fall 2013 issue looked at the unique challenges and opportunities for health care under the Affordable Care Act.
