On Tuesday, November 10, 2015, the Independence Blue Cross Foundation partnered with the National League for Nursing to host Paradigms in Nursing Leadership, a national conference focused on the transformation of leadership in nursing and the transferability of nursing skills to fields beyond traditional practice settings. With more than 500 in attendance, the conference provided a venue for nurses to share insights to advance nursing education and successfully drive needed changes in health care.
The conference opened with a CEO panel discussion between Independence Blue Cross President and CEO Dan Hilferty and Beverly Malone, CEO of the National League for Nursing who explored topics ranging from the future of health care, leadership and the business case for investing in nursing. Charlotte Sutton, Health and Science Editor at the Philadelphia Inquirer moderated the discussion.
Speakers included representatives from the leading national nursing organizations including the National League for Nursing, American Academy of Nursing, American Nurses Association, American Association of Colleges of Nursing and American Organization of Nurse Executives, along with industry leaders from CVS Minute Clinic and IBM Healthcare Global Business Services.
On August 5, 2015, IBX Foundation was honored to welcome Dr. Nancy Milio, the 77-year old originator of public health policy and founder of Detroit’s Mom and Tots Center. Dr. Milio spoke at an IBX Foundation event in honor of National Health Center Week. National Health Center Week raises awareness about America’s community health centers.
